MOBILE, Ala. — Real estate professionals from southwest Alabama and other areas gathered March 10 to discuss current market conditions and exchange ideas about how best to jump-start sales and leasing opportunities. The Gulf Coast Commercial Real Estate Summit III and Market Review, presented by the University of South Alabama Mitchell College of Business Center for Real Estate Studies, focused this year on how to maximize opportunities in what has proved to be a tough time for those buying and selling commercial property.

DAPHNE, Ala. — On behalf of Dr. Barry Booth of Honor Flight South Alabama, Bayside Academy invites all World War II Veterans to an Honor Flight Assembly on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, 9:40 a.m., held in Bayside Academy’s Moorer Gym. The assembly will include a video presentation about Honor Flight including footage from its most recent flight from Mobile to Washington on September 16, 2009.

LOXLEY, Ala. — The council heard from Mayor Billy Middleton, March 8 who said that there are two openings on the industrial development board and one opening on the town’s personnel board. If a Loxley resident is interested in those positions, they should contact Middleton or the Town Clerk. All members of the council were present for the meeting.

ROBERTSDALE, Ala. — Who has the best soup? No, this isn’t a rerun of the Seinfeld “Soup Nazi” bit, but several area cooks squared off at the George P. Thames Senior Center Friday, Feb. 26 to see who would win bragging rights for the year. The event also made money for the Senior Center’s activities, said Sarah Duncan, the Senior Center’s director.
